Fridge Parts Australia
Find genuine OEM fridge spare parts for all major brands, including Westinghouse, Fisher & Paykel, and Electrolux. Every part stocked by Genuine Appliance Parts is a genuine manufacturer part, engineered for your exact model. Not sure which part you need? Use our Find Model Number guide or call our team on 03 8373 6044 and we'll help you identify the right component for your fridge.
Common Fridge Spare Parts
These are the fridge spare parts Australians replace most often:
- Door gasket (door seal): The rubber seal around the fridge door. When it cracks or loses its magnetism, cold air escapes and your fridge works harder than it should. A quick paper test tells you: close the door on a piece of paper and pull. The paper should resist. If it slides out easily, the seal needs replacing.
- Thermostat / temperature controller: Regulates the internal temperature. A faulty thermostat causes inconsistent cooling, food freezing in the fridge section, or the fridge running non-stop.
- Evaporator fan motor: Circulates cold air throughout the cabinet. Signs of failure include warm spots, uneven cooling, unusual noise from the freezer section, or frost building up on the evaporator plate.
- Water inlet valve: Controls water supply to the ice maker and door dispenser. Failure shows as no ice production, slow ice, or no water at the door.
- Defrost thermostat: Part of the auto-defrost system. When it fails, ice builds up rapidly on the evaporator coils and the fridge runs constantly trying to maintain temperature.
- Ice maker assembly: Produces and ejects ice cubes. Common faults: no ice, partial ice, or oddly shaped cubes.
- Shelves, bins, and crisper drawers: Cracked or broken shelving and drawers are a straightforward DIY swap. Bring the broken part along to confirm your model number before ordering.
- Interior light globe or LED: Dark inside when you open the door? Replacing the globe or LED module is one of the simplest fridge repairs you can do.
Signs Your Fridge Needs a New Part
Watch for these symptoms before a minor fault turns into a larger repair bill:
- Frost build-up inside the freezer: usually a failing defrost thermostat or defrost timer. Left unchecked, it restricts airflow and causes the compressor to overwork.
- Condensation on the outside of the door: a classic sign the door gasket isn't sealing properly anymore.
- Uneven temperatures: some shelves cold, others warm. Points to the evaporator fan motor losing performance.
- No ice or water from the door dispenser: water inlet valve fault. Inexpensive to fix if you catch it early.
- Fridge running constantly: can be a faulty thermostat, a failing door seal, or excessive frost restricting the evaporator.
Most of these faults are straightforward replacement jobs. Parts arrive flat-rate at $8.95 Australia-wide, so ordering early saves you money on a service call.
Genuine vs Generic Fridge Parts
Genuine OEM fridge parts are made to the exact tolerances of the original component. A genuine door gasket is cut to the precise profile of your fridge model; a generic alternative may look similar but rarely achieves the same seal across the full door perimeter.
The longer-term cost matters too. A substandard evaporator fan motor can put extra load on the compressor, shortening its life. The compressor is the most expensive component in a fridge, and the one part that isn't a DIY replacement. Keeping the surrounding parts genuine protects the compressor.
Genuine OEM fridge parts are tested to Australian electrical safety standards (AS/NZS 3820), while generic parts may not meet the same requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the most common fridge parts that need replacing?
The most frequently replaced fridge parts are door gaskets, thermostats, evaporator fan motors, and water inlet valves. Shelves and crisper bins wear out over time too, but they're a straightforward swap. These are all parts a confident DIYer can handle without a technician.
Can I replace fridge parts myself?
Most fridge spare parts are designed for owner replacement. Door seals, shelves, bins, ice makers, fan motors, and thermostats are all practical DIY jobs for most models. The exception is the compressor and any component in the sealed refrigerant system, which require a licensed technician.
How do I know which fridge part I need?
The model number is the key. It's usually on a label inside the fridge, on the door frame, or on the back panel. Once you have it, use our Find Model Number guide or call our team on 03 8373 6044 and we'll confirm the right part for your exact model.
Will using aftermarket fridge parts affect my warranty?
Under Australian Consumer Law, your consumer guarantee rights exist separately from the manufacturer's warranty. However, using non-genuine parts may affect your manufacturer warranty coverage for a specific fault if the non-genuine part is found to have caused it. Genuine OEM parts avoid this risk and come with their own manufacturer warranty coverage on the part itself.
How long should a fridge last?
A well-maintained fridge typically lasts 10–15 years. Replacing worn parts early, particularly the door seal and thermostat, keeps the compressor from being overworked and extends the appliance's life. Most faults that develop between years 5 and 12 are part-replacement jobs, not whole-appliance failures.
